Virunga National Park

Het Virunga National Park kreunt onder de vele politieke turbulenties in Oost-Congo. Terwijl burgeroorlogen elkaar in snel tempo opvolgen, lijden mens en dier onder de excessen van het vele stropen en kappen. Een kleine maar dappere groep parkwachters probeert met de moed der wanhoop dit UNESCO-erfgoed te beschermen tegen stropers, gewapende milities en andere donkere krachten die uit zijn op Congo’s natuurlijke rijkdommen. Virunga vertelt het ongelooflijke verhaal van gewone Congolezen die hun leven op het spel zetten voor een stukje Afrika dat de rest van de wereld al lang heeft opgegeven.

Virunga National Park is groaning under the many political upheavals in Eastern Congo. While civil wars follow each other in quick succession, humans and animals under the excesses of many poaching and logging suffer. A small but brave group of rangers trying to protect against poachers, armed militias and other dark forces that are out on the Congo's natural resources.
